Behind the Camera: Dental Testimonial Videos for Valley Dental Health
I recently spent a half day at Valley Dental Health in Cockeysville, Maryland, working as director of photography and camera operator for Lasso Media. Lasso is a marketing agency I partner with on dental practice shoots, and together we came away with eight finished videos: patient testimonials, doctor introductions, and treatment stories, all from one efficient session.
My Role on This Shoot
Valley Dental Health is Lasso Media’s client, and this project was a true partnership. Lasso handled the client relationship and the overall strategy, and I handled everything on the camera side: lighting and framing each interview, helping patients and doctors feel at ease on camera, and capturing b-roll of the office and the patient experience. It’s the kind of setup I enjoy, because each of us gets to focus on what we do best and the practice gets a polished result.
Eight Videos From One Half Day
On most dental shoots we plan for a full day and capture both photo and video. This assignment was video only, and we had half a day to get it done. That meant every interview setup had to be dialed in quickly, every patient needed to feel comfortable fast, and the b-roll had to be captured between interviews without slowing anything down. We still walked away with every testimonial and doctor video on the list.
A tight schedule like this matters to a dental office. Every hour of filming is an hour of rooms, chairs, and staff time, so a crew that works quickly and stays out of the way makes video a much easier thing to say yes to.
The Practice Story Videos
These videos introduce the practice and what makes a visit there feel different. They’re the kind of pieces that work on a homepage, a Google Business Profile, or as the first video a new patient sees in an ad.
Working With Dr. Ashley Izadi
Dr. Ashley Izadi was a pleasure to work with. She’s a genuinely good person, and you can see it in the way she runs her practice and treats her patients and team. That warmth comes through on camera, and it made it easy to capture her speaking naturally about cosmetic dentistry and Invisalign.
We also filmed with Dr. Dongjoon Kim, including an introduction video and a treatment story on dental implants.
Patient Testimonials That Build Trust
For a lot of people, choosing a new dentist comes with some nerves. Hearing a real patient talk about their experience does more to ease that than anything a practice can say about itself. These testimonials cover both cosmetic and restorative care, which gives Valley Dental Health something to show patients who are researching a specific treatment, not just the practice in general.
What Makes Dental Videos Work
After filming a lot of dental and orthodontic practices, a few things consistently make the difference.
Real patients beat scripts. A patient describing their own experience in their own words is far more believable than any polished pitch, so most of our interview time goes into helping them relax and talk naturally.
Put the doctors on camera. People want to know who will be treating them before they book, and a short introduction video answers that before the first appointment.
Plan for more than one video. A single interview can be cut into both a practice story and a treatment story, so one shoot can feed a website, YouTube, social media, and ads for months.
Respect the schedule. A good crew works around the office, not the other way around, and that’s exactly why a half day was enough here.
