Why We Want to Talk Before We Send You a Quote

Do Not Be Afraid of the Call

I will be honest with you. I do not love phone calls either.

We live in a world where you can order groceries, book a flight, and sign a lease without talking to a single person. So when a company says "let's hop on a quick call," the guard goes up. You assume it is a sales trap dressed up as good service. You picture thirty minutes of friendly conversation slowly turning into a pitch you did not ask for.

I get it. Most of us would rather email. We would rather get the price, think it over, and decide on our own time without anyone leaning on us.

So let me tell you exactly how it works at C King Media, because it is not that.

We do not do high-pressure sales

I am going to say something most business owners would never put in writing. We honestly do not mind whether you book with us or not.

What we care about is that you end up with the coverage you actually need. If that is us, wonderful. If it is not, we would rather find that out in ten minutes than stretch it across two weeks of emails. Either way, you walk away with clarity instead of pressure.

We are also not the studio that wants to spend an hour digging into every corner of your business on a first call. We love doing that with the right clients once we are working together. But on a first conversation, we respect your time far too much for that.

Here is the real reason we want to talk

It is simple. Email is where good projects quietly disappear.

We have lived this more times than I can count. Someone reaches out about an event or a branding shoot. We put together a thoughtful quote, lay it all out, send it over, and then nothing. Silence. The ghost.

That is not a knock on anyone. Life gets busy. Unless you are one of our livestream clients with a hard date in the next couple of weeks, most projects do not carry that urgency, so they drift. A five minute call cuts through all of it. We learn quickly whether there is a real chance we can work together, whether the timing makes sense, and whether we are even in the same ballpark on budget. No chasing. No wondering. No quote sitting in your inbox for a month.

If it is an event, the call is easy

For events, this part is quick. How many hours do you need? What does the day look like? Are we covering a keynote, a happy hour, a full conference, or all of it? We can get you most of the way to an answer in one short, friendly conversation.

If it is video, here is what you should know

Video is the hardest thing to book, and I want to be straight with you about why.

Video cannot be auto-quoted the way some things can, because no two projects are the same. When someone asks "how much does a video cost," the most honest answer is another question. What are you trying to accomplish, and what is your budget? That is not us being cagey or padding a number. The truth is that most of what you pay goes right back out to the people and the gear it takes to do the work well.

Here is the part nobody says out loud. When a production gets bigger, yes, we earn a little more, because coordinating a crew of three or four shooters is real work and we are managing all of it. But when it is just me, Charles, coming out solo to shoot, my own average comes out about the same. The price moves with the production, not with how we feel that day.

So the only thing we really need to figure out is this. Are you looking for one person to come out, capture great content, and call it a day? Or are you building something bigger, a full team production with multiple shooters, livestream, and photography all at once? Both are great answers. Knowing which one you want is the whole point.

We do not box you in

Some people would tell us to niche down. Offer one thing. One videographer, one package, easy to sell. And sure, that would be simpler on our end.

But why would we limit what you can dream up? If a brand the size of Hilton comes to us wanting a full production, we are not going to say "sorry, we only do solo shoots." We have run galas with six videographers, livestream, and photography happening at the same time. We have also done the single shooter content day for a small team on a tight budget. From your very first message, we have no idea yet whether you are planning a major gala or a modest company retreat where fifteen hundred dollars is the ceiling. That gap is enormous, and it is exactly why we ask instead of assume.

So do not be afraid of the call

Other companies use the call to rope you in. We use it to set you free.

All we are trying to figure out is one thing. Can we help you, or can we not? If we can, we will show you exactly how. If we cannot, we will tell you that honestly and likely point you somewhere better. Nobody leaves that conversation feeling cornered. You leave it with answers.

If you are looking to book a videographer or photographer anywhere in the DMV, whether that is DC, Northern Virginia, or Baltimore, reach out. Let's have a quick, relaxed conversation and figure out what you need. That is it. That is the whole pitch.
