Shooting Tethered: How We Review and Choose Your Images Together, LIVE

When you book a shoot with C King Media, we do something a little different from what you may be used to. We shoot tethered. That means every image goes straight from my camera onto the computer as I take it, and we review them together in real time while we work.

If that sounds like a lot, I promise it is not. It actually makes your shoot faster, gets your images to you sooner, and, most importantly, it means you walk away knowing you got the shot before I ever leave your location.

Here is how it works and what your part looks like.

What tethering actually is

As I shoot, the images populate on the screen right in front of us. One comes in, then another, then another, building into a library we can look at together on the spot. Whether we are doing headshots, event coverage, an editorial piece, or a full commercial shoot, you are seeing exactly what the camera is capturing as it happens. No waiting days to find out whether we nailed it.

Your two jobs as the client

I will be right there guiding you the whole time, but you really only have two things to focus on.

First, we cut the clear no's. Not every frame is a keeper, and that is completely normal. I am a professional, but when you are seeing every single image that hits the camera, some of them just will not be what we want. Maybe one is slightly out of focus, maybe the lighting is a touch off, maybe you look at a whole section and think, "I don't love how I look here." Great. Gone. That is exactly the point. We shrink the library down to only the shots with real potential.

Second, we flag the ones you love. When an image jumps out at you, we mark it, either with a five star rating or a quick flag. Those become our shortlist. Once we finish shooting, we sort the whole thing down to just the images you flagged, and from there we pick the very best.

Why I ask you to choose what you do not like

Here is a little trick I have picked up over the years. When we are narrowing things down, I will often ask you to point out the image you do not want rather than the one you do.

People are very, very good at knowing what they do not like. It is 2026, we all do this every day. So when two shots are nearly identical, it is usually faster and easier to say "not that one" than to agonize over which one is perfect. That one small shift lets us move through fifty or a hundred images incredibly fast while we are together.

Say we are shooting an ad and you need clean space across the top for a headline. One frame looks great on its own, but there is nowhere to place your text. Easy call. That one goes. The next one has exactly the room you need. Now we are getting somewhere.

Why we do this live

Two reasons, and both are for you.

The first is your images. We charge per image, so I would much rather you see everything in real time and choose exactly what you are paying for. Nothing gets missed, nothing gets wasted, and you are never surprised by the final gallery, because you helped build it.

The second is peace of mind. Because we are reviewing as we go, if there is a shot you really want and we have not quite landed it yet, we still can. I am still there, the lights are still up, and your location is still set. You approve the work while we can still adjust it, not weeks later when it is too late to do anything about it.
