How to Add an Authorized User to Your YouTube Channel (So We Can Manage It for You)

If we’re managing your YouTube uploads, livestreams, or video optimization, you’ll need to grant us access without sharing your password.

YouTube allows you to securely add authorized users with specific permissions. It’s quick, simple, and keeps your channel safe. Here’s how to do it step by step.

Step 1: Open YouTube Studio

  1. Go to studio.youtube.com and log in.

  2. Make sure you’re signed in with the Google account that owns your YouTube channel.

Step 2: Go to Permissions

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.

  2. Select Permissions.

  3. Click Invite (sometimes labeled as “Add user”).

Step 3: Add the Authorized User

  1. Enter the Google account email address of the person you want to add, for example, charles@ckingphotography.com.

  2. Under “Access,” choose the appropriate role:

  3. Manager – Can upload, edit, and manage videos.

  4. Editor – Can upload and edit, but cannot change permissions.

Either role works fine for most projects.

  5. Click Done or Send Invitation.

Step 4: Confirm Access

  1. The invited person will receive an email from YouTube.

  2. Once they accept the invite, they will appear in your list of authorized users.

  3. You can remove or adjust permissions anytime through the same Permissions tab.

Troubleshooting

If you don’t see the Permissions option, your channel may not be set up as a Brand Account or you may need to enable Channel Permissions.

You can check by visiting myaccount.google.com/brandaccounts.

If your channel isn’t listed there, click your profile picture in YouTube, select Switch Account, and look for the Brand Account version of your channel.

Why This Matters

Adding us as an authorized user allows us to:

  1. Upload and optimize your videos properly.

  2. Manage livestream setups and scheduling.

  3. Update thumbnails, tags, and SEO details.

  4. Keep your login credentials completely private.

It keeps your channel secure while giving us the access we need to deliver professional results.

Quick Summary

  1. Go to YouTube Studio → Settings → Permissions → Invite.

  2. Add charles@ckingphotography.com and select Manager or Editor.

  3. We’ll accept the invitation and get started.
